Adjusting 3pt. Cutter
1. With cutter properly pinned on tractor, proceed to level cutter.
2. With tractor/cutter on level ground, lower cutter until tail wheel touches ground. Place a carpenter's level cross way on front of cutter deck. If level is not available, you may use a tape or yardstick & measure distance from front corners of cutter to the ground, (this may not be as accurate as the level). If cutter is not level, then use adjustable lower arm lift link on the 3pt. hitch of the tractor to level the cutter. Lengthen or shorten lift link until deck is level from side to side along the leading (front) edge of cutter.
3. With gloved hand & TRACTOR TURNED OFF rotate the swinging blade untill it is pointing straight forward. Lower cutter until the swinging blade is at desired height. You may have to shorten or lengthen top link to get tail wheel to touch ground. When correct mowing height is reached, adjust tail wheel until rear of cutter is slightly higher than front of cutter. Set hydraulic stop on tractor three pt. lift quadrant. Remember, the tail wheel of cutter sets the height of the rear of the cutter, the tractor 3pt. hitch sets the height of the front of the cutter.
4. Now adjust the top link in or out untill there is slack in top pivot hitch of cutter.
5. Cutter is properly adjusted when it is level from side to side, the front of cutter is somewhat lower than back of cutter, tail wheel is firmly on ground, & top link & upper pivot hitch on cutter rests at a slightly down hill position. Finally, tighten lock nut on top link & lift arm (some lift arms have a lock nut, some have a crank) to prevent them from lengthening or shortening as you are mowing.
Note: Always consult your owner's manual for both tractor & cutter. Please feel free to call us if you are needing clarification on any adjustments you are making. We are here to help.
